What is a Micro Board?

A micro board is a small, dedicated group of people committed to supporting an individual to live their best possible life.
Micro boards, including DAS, are registered under the BC Societies Act and have a Constitution and Bylaws for the micro board to follow.

For Dante, our micro board is about:
• Creating opportunities for Dante
• Ensuring his quality of life
• Providing him personalized support
• Advocating for his needs and dreams

Our Impact: A Real-World Example

Our micro board's significance was powerfully demonstrated through our interaction with Community Living BC (CLBC) in the Spring and Summer of 2024. Simply by existing, DAS played a crucial role in Dante's care journey. When it came time to secure a placement, our board members' presence made a tremendous difference:

• Board members attended meetings as witnesses
• Our collective presence provided accountability
• We offered emotional support for the family during critical decision-making
• CLBC recognized and valued our organized, committed approach
• Because the province recognizes Micro Boards, we were able to negotiate a short-term funding contract to put temporary support systems in place. This allowed us to hire essential staff while waiting for a permanent placement

This experience underscores a fundamental truth:
